Investing Group Spotlight
Steven Bavaria brings over 50 years of experience in banking, credit, journalism, and investing to his Investing Group, Inside the Income Factory. Members learn how to grow wealth by reinvesting income using real portfolios, market insights, and community discussions. His strategy focuses on dependable cash flow through credit assets such as high-yield bond funds, CEFs, BDCs, and CLOs, based on his belief that long-term returns ultimately follow income.
(Full Article – Free access) In this article, Steven explains the Income Factory investing approach, which focuses on generating high and reliable cash income rather than relying mainly on stock price growth. He shows that total return is what truly matters – whether it comes from dividends, interest, or price appreciation makes no difference mathematically. He treats his portfolio like a “factory” that produces income, which he reinvests to grow over time, even when markets fall.
Unlike traditional growth investing, which depends on rising stock prices, Steven’s strategy delivers returns through higher-yield, credit-based investments. He also highlights the emotional comfort and practical benefits of this approach, especially for retirees, by providing steady income, reducing risk, and helping maintain financial stability during market downturns.
(Full Article – Free access) Steven argues that fear in the corporate credit markets is overstated and that rationality is beginning to return. He explains how negative media coverage has pushed down prices in private and alternative credit assets such as BDCs and CLO funds, often exaggerating the true risks. Steven reiterates that total return is simply the sum of income and capital movement, and that earning returns from income is just as valid as relying on price appreciation.
He views the recent wave of panic selling as an opportunity rather than a warning sign and supports his view with industry data showing manageable default rates. Steven also explains why private credit tends to be more disciplined than traditional bank lending and concludes with continued confidence in high-yield credit investments.
