The index closed the day up 0.1%, marking its eighth day of consecutive gains. The last time that happened was November 2021.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq8q5ni00073b6hld7a5zv1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      The Nasdaq also had a late-day rebound, and ended 0.1% higher marking a nine-session winning streak.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq8ctxr00023b6i1c61gln8@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      The Dow was down by 40 points, or 0.1%, at the closing bell Wednesday, ending its respective seven-day winning run.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7lbym000g3b6hy9uj9r9b@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      The market\u2019s mixed messages come as a slew of Federal Reserve policymakers spoke this week. Fed officials issued mostly hawkish words of caution, warning that there is more work to be done to contain persistent inflation. Still, financial markets are still pricing in a 90.4% chance that the Fed keeps rates steady at its December meeting, according to the CME FedWatch Tool.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7whu3000z3b6hq9181bpb@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Treasury yields fell as investors digested the central bank\u2019s messaging. Yields on the 10-Year Treasury fell to about 4.5% on Wednesday after surging in late October to touch 5%, its highest level in over a decade.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq8kz7o00083b6in2tdqdhx@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Fed Chair Jerome Powell is set to take part in an International Monetary Fund panel in Washington, DC, on Thursday.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7so7m000m3b6h8nfp2fko@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Oil prices also slipped again after falling to their lowest levels since July on Tuesday.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7v0av000o3b6haoy0k6zb@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Crude prices have been declining since Oct. 20, even as the ongoing conflicts in Europe and the Middle East threaten to further constrain the supply of oil.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7vqqz000x3b6h0fgyax40@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      That\u2019s because of China\u2019s weakening economy.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7v0ws000s3b6hxmgj6i0a@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      \u201cTraders still don\u2019t see the current Middle Eastern hostilities spreading out and affecting supply. Instead, it\u2019s the demand side which is the focus, with concerns of economic weakness in China and elsewhere capping prices,\u201d said David Morrison, senior market analyst at financial services provider Trade Nation.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7v0ws000t3b6hx4s16h50@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Energy traders, meanwhile, are anxiously awaiting new inflation data from China, which is expected on Thursday.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7non3000i3b6hojj1a1ns@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Third-quarter earnings season is beginning to wind down, with 88% of S&amp;P 500 companies having reported already. Of those companies, more than 88% beat analysts\u2019 earnings estimates, according to FactSet data. Still, only 62% of those companies beat on revenue expectations, indicating that consumer and business demand might be slowing.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq6gm9s00013b6h2l8iuljb@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Shares of Rivian dropped nearly 2.4% even after the electric automaker posted an earnings beat earlier in the day and raised its production forecast for the year.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7304v00043b6hbqiiflvz@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Shares of Warner Bros. Discovery, meanwhile, fell by nearly 19% as falling ad revenue dimmed the outlook for 2024. WBD is the parent company of CNN.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7698h00063b6h8d5brw2a@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Robinhood also sank on Wednesday. Shares of the financial services company were down about 14.3% after the company reported a miss on third-quarter revenues and gave weak forward guidance, citing the falling value of crypto.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq788mu00083b6hzbhj8h1u@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Video game developer Roblox saw its shares pop 11.8% after the company announced a strong earnings report with more in-game sales.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloq7a43z000c3b6hvr3ydisz@published\" data-editable=\"text\"
