Crypto banking firm, BCB Group, announced the departure of CEO Oliver von Landsberg-Sadie today following the exits of two other executives, according to a company email sent Wednesday.<\/p>\n

A number of notable clientele<\/h2>\n

<\/span>
BCB Group was originally founded by von Landsberg-Sadie and Oliver Tonkin as a cryptocurrency brokerage in 2017. Notable clients of the firm include Kraken, Huobi, Bitstamp, Galaxy, Fireblocks, and Gemini, amongst others.<\/p>\n

According to a press release from BCB Group, Tonkin will take over von Landsberg-Sadie\u2019s role effective immediately.<\/p>\n

Previously, Tonkin served as both the firm\u2019s General Counsel and took over the position of Deputy CEO in July following Sharp\u2019s sudden departure.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the unwavering dedication and expertise of our teams, BCB Group is a unique company that has grown significantly since its creation,\u201d stated Tonkin.\u00a0 \u201cAs a co-founder, I know only too well that the opportunities for us and our industry are as strong as ever \u2013 and to become CEO will be a privilege and an honor as we seek to scale BCB Group to the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n

A series of shakeups<\/h2>\n

<\/span>
In June, former Deputy CEO Noah Sharp stepped down from his role following failed attempts to acquire Sutor Bank, a German financial services institution that traditionally partners with fintech companies. Sharp has since accepted a position as CEO of Warsaw-based banking-as-a-service provider, Vodeno.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhilst we still believe in the team at Sutor and their innovative platforms, ultimately we recognize that in today\u2019s market, unrecognizable compared to the 2021 market, we can each serve our clients on our own foundations more effectively than via the deal originally agreed,\u201d von Landsberg-Sadie said in a statement earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Chief Banking Officer, Ian Moore, left the company in September following a year in the role \u201cto pursue other opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tonkin \u201cis ideally placed to lead the business moving forward\u201d<\/h2>\n

<\/span>
According to the company\u2019s latest press release following von Landsberg-Sadie\u2019s exit, the former CEO left \u201cto pursue new opportunities.\u201d The statement continued that Tonkin \u201cis ideally placed to lead the business moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wednesday\u2019s press release also touted von Landsberg-Sadie\u2019s leadership, stating \u201cthe firm secured the largest Series A funding for a company in the UK blockchain industry, and he has since established BCB Group as the cornerstone of the global crypto industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTonkin\u2019s appointment is a reflection of BCB\u2019s evolution within an increasingly maturing industry as the firm prepares for continued global growth and expansion,\u201d the press release continued.<\/p>\n
