{"id":13502,"date":"2023-11-30T18:07:09","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T18:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infundpros.com\/markets\/crypto\/robinhood-to-launch-in-u-k-in-early-2024\/"},"modified":"2023-11-30T18:07:11","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T18:07:11","slug":"robinhood-to-launch-in-u-k-in-early-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infundpros.com\/?p=13502","title":{"rendered":"Robinhood to Launch in U.K. in Early 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><noscript><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>Investment platform, Robinhood, has plans to launch in the U.K. as early as the start of 2024, according to CEO Vlad Tenev.<\/p>\n<h2>New features launching<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"replacer\"><\/span><br \/>\u201cThe intention is, for the U.K. market, Robinhood to be the best place to invest in U.S. stocks and U.S. dollars, and we believe we can fulfill that need better than anyone else,\u201d Tenev told Bloomberg\u2019s Tom Mackenzie.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Bloomberg, Tenev announced the company has plans to launch commission-free share trading of U.S. stocks as well as a 5% ADR on invested cash and its 24-hour trading feature within the U.K.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that\u2019s particularly useful for consumers here because there\u2019s just less overlap between waking hours and U.S. East Coast hours,\u201d Tenev said. \u201cSo that\u2019ll just make it a lot more usable and a lot more welcoming for customers to invest here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>A global company<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"replacer\"><\/span><br \/>Tenev\u2019s announcement marks the third time the investment platform has tried to set up shop in the U.K.<\/p>\n<p>Robinhood was set to launch in the U.K. in 2020, but the company postponed its plans due to the\u00a0 COVID-19 global pandemic. In 2022, Robinhood purchased the British-based crypto-trading app, Ziglu, before the deal ultimately fell through.<\/p>\n<p>The investment platform\u2019s expansion into the British market is the long-overdue realization of Tenev\u2019s long term vision for the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI aspire for Robinhood to be a global company,\u201d said Tenev. \u201cBaiju and I started this company as immigrants and children of immigrants. And so, the idea of making our services available\u2026to anyone, anywhere in the world with a smartphone is just the vision I\u2019ve had in mind since the very beginning.
