Yields move in the opposite direction to prices.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The yield on the 10-year Treasury<br \/>\n        BX:TMUBMUSD10Y<br \/>\n       was 5.01%, up 8.1 basis points.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The yield on the 30-year Treasury<br \/>\n        BX:TMUBMUSD30Y<br \/>\n       was 5.17%, up 8 basis points.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What\u2019s driving markets<\/h2>\n<p>Yields have climbed in recent weeks in what Fed officials including Chair Jerome Powell and Vice Chair Philip Jefferson have largely blamed on rising term premiums \u2014 the unobservable compensation that investors require for bearing the risk that rates may change.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p>Analysts at Morgan Stanley say the Fed\u2019s hawkish stance is another reason why yields have climbed. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo things stood out in the FOMC\u2019s most recent dot-plot \u2013 another rate hike may be appropriate, and the higher policy rate would be in place for longer than previous dot-plots had suggested.
