medium\">Per Alpha Factory (via EastMoney), fintech firms such as MOG Digitech Holdings are making headway in the CBDC sector, and are eyeing global uses for the e-CNY.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">The media outlet noted that the e-CNY\u2019s global expansion has been a hot topic at this month\u2019s Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">The forum saw China seal \u201cdigital currency\u201d cooperation agreements with central bankers from the UAE and Indonesia.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">Economic cooperation agreements were \u201csigned by more than 150 countries and more than 30 international organizations\u201d at the fair, Chinese state media outlets medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">The media outlet also noted that Chinese players want to integrate the e-CNY with the Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">The CIPS is a settlement platform created in 2015 to internationalize the yuan.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">CIPS has frequently been mooted as a SWIFT alternative.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">Alpha Factory wrote:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">\u201c<span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\">The digital yuan and the CIPS are complementary, and the CIPS is [playing] an indirect catalytic role in the development of the e-CNY.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">But more significant still may be the fact that China\u2019s CBDC can bypass systems like SWIFT and CIPS altogether.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">The media outlet explained:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">\u201c<span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\">In the existing international settlement system, cross-border payments rely heavily on accounts [\u2026] and banks. [With the CBDC], there is no such thing as an account, only the concept of a digital wallet. Overseas companies can [open] CBDC wallets developed by domestic banks, and do not need to hold an account at an overseas bank to participate.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">This will allow for \u201cfaster and smoother settlements\u201d in the yuan.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">MOG\u2019s recent H1 report contained details of the firm\u2019s success with digital yuan-powered \u201csupply chain financing scenarios.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">The company has also \u201creceived support\u201d from some of the country\u2019s \u201chighest-level institutions,\u201d the media outlet wrote, as it looks to offer digital yuan-powered insurance and reinsurance products.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">Many other Chinese players, including major banks, have been exploring digital yuan-powered supply chain solutions that make use of smart contract technology.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">Recent developments involving Singapore and Hong Kong-based firms suggest Chinese companies are eager to expand their digital yuan operations \u2013 including supply chain business \u2013 abroad.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #111111\">China Eyeing Overseas Progress for the e-CNY?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #111111\"><span style=\"font-family: Libre Baskerville, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Meanwhile, in an interview published by Stockstar, the IT firm and digital fiats interoperability player Sifang Jingchuang explained that it has \u201cexpanded its business in BRI countries
