{"id":5778,"date":"2023-10-27T02:36:18","date_gmt":"2023-10-27T02:36:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infundpros.com\/markets\/crypto\/chinas-didi-chuxing-debuts-digital-yuan-services\/"},"modified":"2023-10-27T02:36:19","modified_gmt":"2023-10-27T02:36:19","slug":"chinas-didi-chuxing-debuts-digital-yuan-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infundpros.com\/?p=5778","title":{"rendered":"China&#8217;s Didi Chuxing Debuts Digital Yuan Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121407\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121407\" style=\"width: 1500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><noscript><\/noscript><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-121407\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: THINK b\/Adobe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>China\u2019s ride-sharing giant Didi Chuxing has unveiled a new digital yuan service that will let citizens in 250 parts of the nation use their CBDC coins to rent motorcycles.<\/p>\n<p>Per the Xi\u2019an Business News Network, the move involves the Didi Chuxing affiliate Didi Qingjue, which operates an app-powered motorcycle-sharing service.<\/p>\n<p>Previous developments have seen Didi Chuxing affiliates offer digital yuan-holding customers CBDC payment options for bicycles and Uber-like ride-hailing services.<\/p>\n<p>Users in the pilot zone will now be able to choose the e-CNY as a payment option in the Didi Chuxing app, as well as launching quick CBDC payment options on mobile widgets when hiring motorbikes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121409\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121409\" style=\"width: 604px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-121409\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>A selection of bikes, electric cycles, and motorbikes from the ride-sharing operator Didi.<\/em> (Source: yangli20067\/Weibo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Didi was one of the first private sector transport operators to join the e-CNY project, launching a bicycle-sharing pilot back in June 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The firm formed a \u201cstrategic cooperation agreement\u201d with the Digital Currency Research Institute, the central People\u2019s Bank of China\u2019s CBDC arm.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, the parties agreed to \u201cjointly study and explore the application of the digital yuan in the field of smart travel.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<h2>China\u2019s Didi Exploring Digital Yuan Pay Options<\/h2>\n<p>\nDidi said its latest move would help boost adoption and provide more payment options for its customers, adding that it would \u201ccontinue to promote the application of the digital yuan in the travel sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121408\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121408\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-121408\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: N509FZ (CC BY-SA 4.0)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Chinese state-run public transport operators have been among the country\u2019s most active CBDC adopters: Some of the very first \u201creal-world\u201d e-CNY transactions were made by civil servants on public bus routes.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, adoption has expanded to city metro systems, rail networks, and highway toll booths. In the city of Jinan, the entire bus network now accepts digital yuan payments.<\/p>\n<p>Some inter-city rail networks have also been adapted to accept e-CNY pay, particularly in the parts of the nation that hosted the Asian Games earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>In the B2B world, meanwhile, Chinese banks have been creating digital yuan-powered supply chain financing solutions that make use of
