\n Jeff Bezos is leaving the city where it all began for him.\n <\/p>\n

\n The Amazon founder announced on Instagram that he\u2019s relocating from Seattle, where he has lived since 1994, to Miami. He explained that his parents recently moved back to Florida, where he and his family lived when he was younger, and that he wants to be closer to them.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI\u2019ve lived in Seattle longer than I\u2019ve lived anywhere else and have so many amazing memories here,\u201d Bezos wrote. \u201cAs exciting as the move is, it\u2019s an emotional decision for me. Seattle, you will always have a piece of my heart.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The retro video attached to the Instagram post shows Bezos touring the first Amazon \u201coffice,\u201d which is a garage, in Bellevue, Washington. The three-bedroom house sold a few years ago for $1.5 million.\n <\/p>\n

\n Amazon thrived in the state and has become one of the biggest companies in the world. The company\u2019s headquarters are in nearby Seattle, where it has more than 55,000 employees.\n <\/p>\n

\n Another factor, Bezos said, was his space exploration company Blue Origin. Its \u201coperations are increasingly shifting to Cape Canaveral,\u201d which is about three hours north of Miami.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI want to be close to my parents, and Lauren and I love Miami,\u201d Bezos added, noting his fianc\u00e9e Lauren S\u00e1nchez, who works closely with him on philanthropic projects.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cWe\u2019re really great teammates, and we also have a lot of fun together,\u201d S\u00e1nchez told CNN in November 2022.\n <\/p>\n

\n The couple also recently bought neighboring mansions for a combined $144 million in Biscayne Bay, Bloomberg reported. The area is referred to as \u201cBillionaire Bunker\u201d and includes residents like investor Carl Icahn and NFL star Tom Brady.\n <\/p>\n

\n Unlike the measure\u00a0upheld by Washington\u2019s Supreme Court,\u00a0<\/strong>Florida does not have state\u00a0capital gains taxes, a plus for\u00a0Bezos who periodically sells shares of Amazon.\n <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
